Bangaram Island, #Lakshadweep is a tropical haven of serenity with pristine white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs. If you are done with over commercialised party beaches and instead looking for non touristic tranquil beach experience, then Lakshadweep is the perfect tropical escape! This Island has one resort with max capacity of 46 guests. The only other people living on this island are the resort staff, which means the island is practically yours! We were only 7 guests on the island when I was there. There are at least 3 to 4 uninhabited islands, famous for sea turtles, nearby which you can explore with a rented kayak or a motorboat. A true hidden paradise unlocked 😃

One of my favourite towns is Fort Kochi. Apart from the beautiful harbour it has an interesting history and a mixed architecture brought by the Portuguese, Dutch and British settlers, blended within an indigenous backdrop. The first Jewish and Syrian Christians arrived Kerala during the 1st century. Then the Portuguese arrived with the discovery of the sea route to India from Europe by Vasco De Gama in the 1400s, followed by the Dutch and the British arrivals. Chinese fishing net is believed to have been introduced in Kochi by Chinese explorer Zheng He, from the court of Kublai Khan during the Silk trade route. All have contributed to a rich and interesting mix of culture, history and cuisine. Visit the Church of St Francis, the first European Church in India which also holds the tomb of Vasco De Gama, shopping around the centuries old Jewish street, a stroll along the harbour witnessing the Chinese fishing net catch, amazing Indian temples, the centuries old spice market and most importantly the exotic cuisine, makes Fort Kochi a “not to miss” destination if you are travelling to Kerala.
